Description
The Orient Mako Watch RA-AA0826Y39B is the orange-dial reading of the Mako that collectors know as the Kamasu, part of Orient's Sports Collection. Its reason for existing is simple: the classic diver look, black unidirectional rotating bezel, broad bar indices, screw-down crown, built around a movement made by the brand itself and protected by sapphire, a combination that is not common at this level. The sunburst orange dial carries the whole watch, shifting from bright pumpkin to deep amber as the light travels across it, framed by the matt black bezel and by the brushed and polished surfaces of the steel case.
Inside beats the F6922, an in-house automatic calibre with bidirectional winding that also accepts hand winding and stops the seconds hand for setting the time to the second. It runs on 22 jewels, is rated at +25 / -15 seconds per day and offers more than 40 hours of autonomy from a fully wound barrel, a figure of the movement, never an indication on the dial. The stainless steel case measures 41.8 mm wide, 46.8 mm from lug to lug and 12.8 mm thick, with a sapphire crystal and a screw-down case back engraved with the dolphin design. Water resistance is 20 bar (200 m), so it can be worn for swimming and for regular water activities, although it is not a diver's watch compliant with the ISO standard. The 22 mm SUS316L steel bracelet closes with a three-fold clasp with push button and safety catch, Luminous Light treatment covers hands and indices, and the day and the date share a window at three o'clock.
Orient has been making watches in Japan since 1950 and remains one of the very few houses that still develops and produces its own calibres from start to finish, which places it apart within accessible mechanical watchmaking. The Mako family has served for two decades as the entry point to the Japanese automatic with a marine character, and this collector's reference updates it with sapphire, a screw-down crown and the F6922 with day-date and hacking seconds. The dolphin engraved on the back nods to the aquatic heritage the brand has carried since its first sports models, while the coin-edge flanks of the bezel repeat a tool-watch gesture from the seventies.
TicTacArea have been jewellers since 1993 and have been selling watches online since 1999. That experience shows in honest listings, careful packing and a direct answer whenever you need help sizing the bracelet or setting the calendar.
