Description
The Orient Mako GMT Watch RA-BC0002E30B starts from a simple idea: take the steel sports case that made the Mako one of the most recognisable Japanese automatics, and add a fourth hand. Here it is red, arrow-tipped, and it sweeps the full 24 hours of the day. Read against the rotating bezel graduated to 24 hours, it lets you keep a second time zone in view without losing local time. This E30B version arrives with a green dial, a two-tone green and black bezel and a steel bracelet, within the Sports Collection and as a collector's edition.
Inside beats the F6P22, an in-house automatic calibre with bidirectional winding, manual winding and hacking seconds so the watch can be set to the exact second. It runs on 22 jewels, offers more than 40 hours of autonomy on a full wind and its stated accuracy is +25 to -15 seconds per day. The stainless steel case measures 42.8 mm wide, 49.5 mm from lug to lug and 13.4 mm thick, is protected by a sapphire crystal and closes with a screw-down crown and a screw-down case back engraved with the dolphin design. The unidirectional bezel turns through 120 positions. Water resistance is 20 bar (200 m), enough for swimming and for the sea, though this is not a dive watch conforming to the ISO standard. The SUS316L steel bracelet is 22 mm wide and closes with a three-fold clasp with push-button and safety catch. One practical note: the 24-hour hand is linked to the hour hand and cannot be set independently, so the second time zone is read by rotating the bezel.
Orient has been producing its own calibres in Japan for decades, and the Mako is its best-known sports line, with the engraved dolphin on the case back as its signature. High-intensity Luminous Light on the bar indices and on the arrow hour hand, together with the elongated diamond-shaped minute hand, keeps the collection's visual language intact.
At TicTacArea we have been jewellers since 1993 and selling watches online since 1999. That experience is what allows us to describe each piece for what it actually is, and to stay with the customer after the purchase.
