Introducing the Timex Waterbury Men's Watch TW2U88500, built around a 40 mm round stainless steel case finished in matte grey, with a narrow flat bezel and short lugs that drop down over the strap. The deep blue dial is dressed with golden Roman numerals, each one drawn with fine parallel engraving lines, and framed by two thin golden rings enclosing a dashed minute track. The TIMEX signature sits below 12 o'clock, while the W monogram and the THE WATERBURY inscription are printed above 6 o'clock. Golden hour and minute hands with pointed tips are joined by a slim central seconds hand, and a framed day and date window opens at 3 o'clock, printed in white on black. The fluted gold tone crown sits at the same height, and the brown PU leather strap shows a grained surface, tone on tone stitching along the edges and a pin buckle.

Inside works a quartz movement, chosen for its accuracy and for the fact that it needs no daily winding. It drives the central hour, minute and seconds hands and the double aperture at 3 o'clock, where the left window shows the abbreviated day of the week and the right window the date, both adjustable from the crown. The case measures 11 mm in thickness, which keeps the watch flat under a shirt cuff, and it is protected by a mineral glass, a hard crystal that resists everyday scratching. Water resistance is rated at 5 ATM, so the watch handles rain, splashes and hand washing without concern, although it is not intended for swimming or diving.

The Waterbury collection takes its name from Waterbury, Connecticut, the town where the Waterbury Clock Company was founded in 1854 and from which Timex traces its history. This line revisits the classic American dress watch codes: round case, Roman numerals, day and date aperture and leather strap, at a price that made Timex famous throughout the twentieth century.
