Timex Peanuts Men's Watch TW2W68900

Presenting the Timex Peanuts TW2W68900, a 40 mm round stainless steel case in a silver finish, with flat-topped lugs and bevelled flanks that alternate brushed and polished surfaces. The fixed black bezel carries a white tachymeter scale reading 500, 400, 300, 240, 180 and on down past 100, with the word TACHYMETER printed at the top. The white dial is closed by a printed minute track and applied baton indices filled with pale green luminous material. Under the Q logo and the TIMEX signature sits the CHRONOGRAPH QUARTZ wording. Three black counters give the dial its reverse panda contrast: at nine o'clock Snoopy dances across the register graduated 15, 30 and 45, at three o'clock a counter marked 4, 8 and 12, and at six o'clock a register running 10 to 50. A white date aperture sits between four and five o'clock. Two polished pump pushers frame the fluted crown, and the black leather strap shows a matte grained texture with tonal stitching.

Timekeeping comes from a quartz movement, with central hour, minute and chronograph hands and the counters used to add up elapsed time. The date changes in the small window at the lower right of the dial. Hands and indices are treated with luminous material for night reading. The case measures 40 mm across and 13.5 mm thick, is protected by an acrylic crystal in the tradition of the original models, and is water resistant to 5 ATM.

Timex has been making watches in Waterbury, Connecticut since the nineteenth century and built its name on watches meant to be worn every day rather than kept in a safe. The Peanuts line brings Charles M. Schulz's characters onto that same honest, mechanical-looking dial architecture, and the Q signature recalls the sporty tachymeter chronographs Timex was building in the seventies. Snoopy on a sub-counter is the kind of detail that only works when the rest of the watch is played straight.
