Tom Ford FT1312-52H Sunglasses

We present the Tom Ford FT1312-52H, a sunglass proposal that embodies the signature of quiet American luxury resolved with Italian craftsmanship. The butterfly shape is resolved in acetate with a glossy finish on the front and brown temples, a combination that brings presence without resorting to opulence. The 56 mm lens width with 15 mm bridge and 140 mm temple positions the model in size L (large), a balanced proportion that sits without invading the face and respects the oval features it is meant to accompany.

The lens is the functional heart of this reference. Tom Ford has opted for a a curved base in polycarbonate with brown tinting. Its category 3 filter (intense sun) is designed for strong outdoor sunlight. The surface incorporates a hard coat treatment, and UV400 protection is guaranteed by filtering the entirety of the UVA and UVB spectrum. The polarised lens eliminates direct reflections from bright surfaces, improving contrast and comfort while driving or facing the sea.

The signature detail is on the temples. Over the material appears the T plaque engraved in gold, silent signature of the maison since 2005, accompanied on the inside by the TOM FORD inscription printed in discreet contrast. The bridge carries adjustable nose pads to optimise support on the septum without pressing, and the hinges are standard type with precise opening that maintains geometry after months of use. The glossy finish on the front catches occasional reflections while the brown temples bring just the right contrast without being invasive.

Tom Ford launched his eyewear line in 2005, three years after founding the American maison that bears his name. Texan-born and trained in architecture and fashion, Ford refined his aesthetic language at the helm of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent before establishing his own: a quiet luxury where every detail weighs more than any ostentatious gesture. The T plaque engraved in gold on the temple is his silent signature. Italian production in hand-polished acetates and precision-calibrated metals guarantees the level of finish that justifies the brand's positioning. Tom Ford eyewear does not compete to be seen: it imposes itself on those worthy of noticing.
