Introducing the Timex Peanuts Expedition Scout Watch TW2Y84800, a piece you look at twice before you actually read the time on it. The round 40 mm case wears a matte brushed silver-grey finish, flat-sided, with short lugs that pull the strap in close to the wrist and a wide fluted crown at three o'clock. The dial is built in two layers. The outer ring is pale grey, carrying cream Arabic numerals, a dotted blue minute track and forest-green compass letters N, E, S and W at the four cardinal points. Inside sits a sky-blue disc where Snoopy walks along in a green scout hat, pole over his shoulder, with a row of green pine trees behind him. Cream baton hands for hours and minutes, a thin grey seconds hand, a white date aperture at three and the words WATER RES. 50 METERS printed low on the dial.

The build is straightforward and honest. An analogue three-hand movement with calendar drives the display, so time and date are read in one glance. The case is brass, 40 mm across and only 11 mm thick, which keeps it flat enough to slide under a shirt cuff. A mineral crystal takes the daily knocks and scratches, while 5 ATM water resistance covers rain, hand washing and a swim. The green silicone strap is ribbed with vertical channels near the lugs for grip and flex, and it closes on a standard buckle.
