Introducing the Lacoste FINN Men's Watch 2011284, a 44 mm sports piece dressed almost entirely in black. The stainless steel case is finished in matte black with deeply grooved flanks, and the outer ring carries the numerals 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 printed in white like a rally timer. The inner bezel ring is black, cut by a turquoise arc that runs from twelve o'clock down to the twenty minute mark, picked up again by the fine white and turquoise minute track. The dial has a grained, sandy black texture with large applied white markers at the hours, broad white baton hands and a slim silver seconds hand tipped in turquoise with a circular counterweight. Under twelve you read LACOSTE in white with 5 ATM in turquoise beneath it, while the green crocodile sits at three. The fluted polished steel crown is the only bright element on the case, and the black silicone strap is moulded into wide ribbed links that imitate a metal bracelet.

Inside works a quartz movement, the sensible choice for a watch you grab for the gym, the boat or a weekend away: accurate timekeeping, nothing to wind, simple battery service. It drives central hour, minute and seconds hands in a clean three hand layout with no date window breaking the symmetry. A mineral crystal shields the dial from everyday knocks and scratches, and the 5 ATM rating covers rain, hand washing, the shower and a swim in the pool, though it is not intended for scuba diving.
