Meet the Aston Martin Formula 1 Watch MTFP1F501, a piece that carries the British team's race colours straight onto the wrist. The round case, thick flanked and finished in matt black, frames a two tone bezel: the upper half in lime yellow with a minute track and a triangular marker above twelve, the lower half in black with 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 printed in the same acid green. The black dial is textured with fine vertical lines, and against it sit applied rectangular indexes in white, faceted silver hands and a lime yellow central seconds hand. Under the Aston Martin winged logo you read FORMULA ONE TEAM. Three counters organise the display: a 24 hour register on the left, a day of the week disc on the right and a third counter at six o'clock. The crown at three combines fluted silver with a green ring, while the green strap shows deep machined channels, a lengthwise lime yellow stripe and raised lettering.

Reading the watch is immediate. Central hours, minutes and the lime seconds hand sweep over a printed inner ring with a full minute scale and yellow accent sectors. The left counter is graduated 6, 12, 18 and 24 for a military style reading of the day. The right counter runs from MON to SUN, keeping the weekday permanently in view. The third register at six carries its own small hand, and the sixty unit bezel scale lets you time a stint, a pit window or anything else that matters between lights out and chequered flag.

Aston Martin was born in London in 1913, when Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford put their names to the cars that climbed Aston Hill.
