UNOde50 Jewellery

UNOde50 jewellery: Madrid craftsmanship with soul

UNOde50 was born in Madrid in 1996 with a bold premise: each piece is created in a limited initial series of just 50 units. The technique combines sterling silver or gold plating depending on the model, leather, cord and Swarovski crystals, all hand-assembled in Spain. Statement jewellery with a code and official UNOde50 gift box.

This is how a UNOde50 piece is born

UNOde50 artisan jewellery, handmade in Spain

At UNOde50 every piece of jewellery is different from the rest, just like people, each one unique. Each piece, each combination of materials, textures and shapes is born to express a mood and a way of seeing the world. That voice of its own has made UNOde50 one of the Spanish jewellery houses with the most personality, a style that is worn and recognised.

The artisan process, piece by piece

Under the creative direction of José Azulay, president and creative director of the house, every collection starts from an emotion, a thought, a word, an image or an experience. That idea first becomes a sketch that guides all the pieces in the collection. From there, every original piece leaves the workshop following an artisan jewellery process.

From the sketch to the master piece

Each design is hand-sculpted in wax with special tools until the desired look is achieved. With the piece finished, a silicone mould is made to reproduce it in metal. In casting, the metal is heated until it turns liquid and poured into the mould; once solid, the master piece is born. That first piece is refined by hand, meticulously, until its surface is free of imperfections, because every later reproduction comes from it.

3D assistance and hand assembly

The master piece is 3D-scanned for the final touches and to keep a digital archive of every creation. The prototype is then 3D-printed and, once approved, production begins. Even when large quantities are made, at UNOde50 there is never serial manufacturing: each piece is assembled by hand, one by one.

The proprietary alloy, a signature trait

The secret lies in a proprietary metal alloy that has become part of the brand's success and one of its most personal traits. That alloy helps realise the designs better, gives a very particular handmade texture and achieves generous volumes with very little weight. Many pieces are finished with sterling silver or gold plating, depending on the model. They are not solid silver pieces: the silver or gold is a plating over a proprietary alloy, with the careful finish and assembly of Spanish craftsmanship.

Why is it called UNOde50?

Because each original design was launched in an initial series of just 50 units. That is where the name and the workshop's philosophy of pieces with personality come from.

Is UNOde50 jewellery sterling silver?

Not exactly. UNOde50 works with a proprietary metal alloy, often with sterling silver or gold plating, depending on the model. They are not solid silver pieces: the silver or gold is a plating over a proprietary alloy, and each piece is assembled by hand in Spain with artisan finishes.

Is UNOde50 jewellery handmade?

Yes. From wax modelling to casting, refining the master piece and final assembly, each piece is made by hand, one by one. There is never serial manufacturing.

Is TicTacArea an authorized UNOde50 dealer?

Yes. We are an authorized official UNOde50 dealer; pieces ship with official box and card and warranty according to the brand's policy.

UNOde50 symbols and what they mean

Every symbol the brand uses has a meaning the house itself explains. On each product page we tell you which one the piece carries and what it means.

The padlock, the house emblem

The padlock has been with UNOde50 from the very beginning and it is the most recognisable symbol of the brand. It speaks of their way of doing things, authentic and true to itself, and also of protecting what you value most. That is why it does not only appear on the jewellery: it also guards every piece inside the box it arrives in.

The dragonfly, flying light

The dragonfly stands for freedom, curiosity and the courage to leave fear behind. It is an invitation to live every moment without extra weight, with an idea that runs deep in the brand: that fear is the greatest enemy of freedom.

The heart, beyond love

At UNOde50 the heart is not only about love. It speaks of the beauty of relationships and of what they demand too, and it reminds us that loving someone means allowing yourself to be vulnerable and growing through it.

The nail, what holds things together

The nail stands for union, for building and for craft done properly. For centuries it has joined pieces together and raised things meant to last, and here it is a tribute to craftsmanship and to the worth of what is made with care and purpose.

How to care for your UNOde50 jewellery

The pieces combine sterling silver or 18 carat gold plating with leather, thread and crystal, and each material needs different care. The most restrictive rule for the piece always wins.

  • Gold plating: Gold plating should never be dipped in cleaning liquids. To bring the shine back, simply rub gently with a dry jewellery cloth, with no chemicals.
  • Sterling silver plating: Sterling silver plating takes both liquid cleaning and the jewellery cloth. If you clean it in liquid, rinse it afterwards with water, dry it well and let it rest for a day before putting it away.
  • Leather: It has leather, and leather must never get wet. Clean it dry only, running a soft jewellery cloth over the metal part.
  • Threads and elastics: It has thread, a material that must not get wet either. Clean it dry with a soft jewellery cloth.
  • Crystals, pearls and zirconias: The crystals, pearls and zirconias on this piece are fine with either method, always with gentle movements.

Keep it dry and away from damp, perfume and creams. That is what makes the plating keep its shine the longest.
